We are looking for a

Category Manager

to join our Procurement team in Newcastle. You will support the execution of Whitehaven Coal’s Procurement strategy and lead sourcing projects for goods and services at an exciting time for the company. We are looking for strong team players to join our tight knit friendly team culture. This roleis a full-time permanent position based in our Newcastle office.What You'll doReview spend analytics and develop sourcing strategiesNegotiate and establish contracts with key suppliersAnalysis of vendor spend dataIdentify and mitigate commercial risk for the companyMentor and lead category team membersEngage with senior stakeholders and establish award strategies which align with business objectivesOccasional travel to operating sites will be required.What You'll BringThe successful applicant will possess:Extensive experience in leading high complexity Procurement, Category management or sourcing projectsStrong negotiation skills and experience leading tendersExperience in managing category teamsExcellent analytical skills and attention to detailEstablished stakeholder management skills, with a demonstrated capacity of effectively communicating with senior leadersAbove average computer skills, mainly excel, word and powerpointAn understanding of mining, resources or construction industry is preferred but not essentialWhy Whitehaven CoalIndustry leading 26 Weeks Parental Leave$4k for successful referralsLearning and skills development through study assistance and leadership trainingAwards and recognition through our STRIVE initiativeOpportunities for career growth with new projects on the horizonWhitehaven Coal
