This framework will represent a contemporary and fit-for-purpose approach to seaworthiness regulation, supporting Australia’s sovereign interests into the future. You will contribute to the drafting of new policy, regulations and procedures for seaworthiness; draft acceptable means of compliance and guidance material; and also assist the regulated community with the development of compliance submissions, permits and approvals on behalf of the seaworthiness regulator. Demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving Coordinate with the Senior Engineer to ensure alignment with regulatory standards and project objectives, including leadership, risk management, compliance, accountability, and transparency Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop engineering solutions. Review engineering documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Participate in meetings with stakeholders and provide engineering insights as needed. Support the implementation of engineering policies and procedures to enhance project efficiency. Contribute to the development of technical reports and documentation as required. Assist in troubleshooting technical issues and recommending corrective actions to resolve them. Keep abreast of industry trends, developments, and emerging technologies to support continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor qualification in marine engineering, naval architecture or related discipline, and relevant industry experience. 3+ years of experience working in the maritime engineering or a regulatory field. Must hold on commencement an Australian Government Security clearance. Familiarity with work health and safety and environmental compliance. Knowledge of Australian and International maritime conventions and laws, and/or the Defence regulatory environment/s. Considerable analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Contribute to a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes knowledge sharing and teamwork. Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
