Overview Communications & Engagement ManagerOffice of the NSW Anti-slavery CommissionerLocation: Parramatta CBD (Hybrid) Employment type: Temporary, FulltimeSalary: Clerk Grade 11/12 $149,739 - $173,174 pa(plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading) Your role As the Communications & Engagement Manager, you will lead the development and delivery of strategic communications, media and engagement initiatives that support the Commissioner’s statutory functions and priorities under the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (NSW). You will provide trusted, high-level advice to the Commissioner and senior stakeholders, manage sensitive media matters, and drive compelling narratives that inform, influence and build trust. This role reports directly to the Commissioner and sits within a small, specialist statutory office during a period of growth and increasing public profile. What you’ll do Lead and deliver integrated communications, media, social media, event and stakeholder engagement strategies Provide expert, timely advice on complex and sensitive communication and media matters Shape and deliver narrative-led communications that engage government, business, civil society and lived-experience communities Manage media enquiries and issues, ensuring accurate, risk-aware and reputationally sound responses Research, write and edit high-quality communication materials including speeches, media releases, briefings and reports Plan and deliver events and forums, managing logistics, budgets and delivery timelines Use insights, data and evaluation to continuously improve communication effectiveness You’ll work collaboratively across NSW Government, while also engaging externally at state, federal and, where required, international levels About us The NSW Anti-slavery Commissioner is an independent statutory officer reporting to NSW Parliament. The OASC supports the Commissioner to advocate for, monitor and promote effective action to combat modern slavery in NSW — including forced labour, trafficking, servitude, forced marriage and other forms of exploitation. OASC is a small, specialist office of approximately 12 staff, offering the opportunity to work closely with senior decision-makers and influence policy, practice and public understanding. What we’re looking for We’re looking for a confident, strategic communications leader who brings: Extensive experience leading strategic communications and stakeholder engagement at a senior level Proven ability to provide high-level communication and media advice in complex, high-accountability environments Strong writing and editorial capability across diverse formats and audiences Experience working on issues related to human rights, social justice, sustainability or vulnerable communities (highly regarded) Sound judgment, adaptability and the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure Working arrangements The successful candidate will work from: 50 Phillip Street one day per week 6 Parramatta Square one day per week Additional on-site attendance may be required by the Commissioner Download the role description.
