About the Position Reporting to the CEO the Chief Safety & Productivity Officer leads the Division responsible for the NHVR’s regulatory frameworks, policy and assurance functions. This senior executive will shape the NHVR’s national safety and productivity agenda, provide strategic advice to the CEO and Board, oversee implementation of the Heavy Vehicle National Law Amendment Bill 2025 and drive continuous improvement across regulation and compliance. Key Priorities Leading innovation and reform in regulatory policy and practice Tracking and interpreting technological and industry trends to inform NHVR’s long‑term strategy and regulatory approach Translating legislation into effective operational frameworks Building strong relationships with government and industry Enabling industry innovation through collaboration with technical teams and proactive regulation and codes of practice development Providing cross‑organisational and sector‑wide leadership as part of a high‑performing executive team driving shared priorities Leading a high‑functioning 70‑person team across policy, standards and engineering functions About the Person You are a seasoned executive with proven leadership in complex multi‑stakeholder environments and deep experience in policy regulation or public administration. Exceptional leadership and change management skills Strategic and analytical capability Strong stakeholder influence and political acumen A track record of delivering regulatory or policy reform Tertiary qualifications in Public Policy, Law or related fields You’ll be motivated by the opportunity to shape national outcomes and lead a team driving safer, more productive transport for Australia.
