Live-In Residential School Boarding Supervisor

St Michaels Collegiate School – Hobart TAS St Michaels Collegiate School is seeking a dedicated Residential School Boarding Supervisor to join our team in Hobart, Tasmania. Working under the direct supervision of the Head of Boarding and International Relations, the position provides daily care, supervision, and support for students living in a boarding environment. This includes ensuring student well‑being, helping them feel safe, supported, and connected while living away from home, and managing daily routines. commencing mid-January 2026 part-time (approx.25 hours per week) on‑site accommodation, utilities and some meals provided as part of the remuneration package. What you'll be doing Pastoral care: Providing emotional and social support, and assisting students to resolve social or personal problems. Supervision: Overseeing daily routines, including waking students, mealtimes, study sessions, and ensuring students adhere to the school’s rules and schedule. Safety: Ensuring a safe, secure, and friendly boarding environment, including conducting final checks and responding to emergencies as required. Academic support: Assisting students with homework and assignments and encouraging them to maximise their study time. Discipline: Maintaining discipline and reinforcing appropriate behaviour standards among students. Activity coordination: In collaboration with the Head of Boarding and International Relations, developing and coordinating recreational, social, and educational programs for students. Administration: Maintaining records, completing pastoral care notes, and assisting with other administrative duties as needed. What we’re looking for Relevant experience in a student services, pastoral care or residential supervision role. Minimum of 1‑2 years of experience in student services, pastoral care or residential supervision. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with young people. Excellent organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to multitask effectively. A caring and empathetic approach, with a genuine interest in supporting the well‑being of young people. Relevant qualifications in education, youth work, social work or a related field would be highly regarded. A current Working with Vulnerable People/Children check and first aid certification (or the ability to obtain).
