THE OPPORTUNITY Ipswich Junior Grammar School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Teacher Librarian to lead our Junior School Library and foster a love of literature inquiry and digital literacy in students from Prep to Year 6. This permanent part‑time role (0.6 FTE) is ideal for an educator who is passionate about creating a vibrant hub of learning and supporting curriculum delivery through innovative library services. The Angela Geertsma Junior Library is a dynamic learning hub supporting a curriculum rich in literacy E‑STEAM and inquiry‑based learning. The Teacher Librarian plays a key role in cultivating curiosity supporting classroom learning and guiding students in becoming responsible digital citizens. Additionally as our Teacher Librarian you will: Lead the development and delivery of engaging library and information literacy programs. Collaborate with classroom teachers to support curriculum outcomes and personalised learning plans. Manage library resources and promote a reading culture across the school. Integrate digital technologies to enhance student learning and research skills. Foster a welcoming and inclusive library environment that supports diverse learning needs. WHAT YOU WILL BRING To be successful in this role it is envisaged that you will be highly organised with a positive can‑do attitude as well as; Teaching qualifications or eligibility for registration with the Queensland College of Teachers with a demonstrated capacity, skills and/or experience teaching within a junior school environment. A recognised qualification in Teacher Librarianship (preferred) or willingness to undertake further study. The ability to prepare and deliver dynamic teaching and learning programs to our young learners. Experience monitoring evaluating and reporting on student progress across the curriculum using data analysis to inform classroom teaching and learning programs and strategies to support student learning. Develop each child’s confidence and self‑esteem whilst acting as a role model in presentation, action and communication. Ability to always provide a safe and supportive learning environment. Strong interpersonal skills with highly developed organisational communication and administrative skills. Ability to participate in grounds supervision on a regular rostered basis.
