We’re now seeking an experienced and detail-driven Legal Bookkeeper (15-18 hours a week) to join our exceptional team. About the Role This role is all about ensuring Repute Law’s financial integrity, compliance, and operational efficiency from a trust and finance perspective. As Legal Bookkeeper (15-18 hours a week), you’ll be responsible for managing the firm’s trust and office accounts, overseeing all financial transactions, and ensuring compliance with applicable trust accounting regulations. You’ll work closely with our external accountants, Consultant Lawyers, and operational leadership to ensure our financial records are accurate, up to date, and aligned with both our legal obligations and business goals. You’ll thrive in this role if you have a sharp eye for detail, a strong understanding of trust accounting, and a proactive approach to problem‑solving. Key Responsibilities Oversee all trust account and office account operations, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and Law Society requirements. Maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records in our practice management system (Clio). Reconcile trust and office accounts weekly, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly. Manage trust-to-office transfers in line with compliance and internal policy. Produce regular financial and cash flow reports for leadership review. Coordinate with external accountants and auditors during periodic reviews and Law Society audits. Oversee client billing, payments, and refunds, ensuring clear and accurate communication with clients. Develop and implement financial controls, checks, and balances to safeguard firm resources. Support forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning activities. Contribute to the ongoing improvement of finance-related workflows and systems. What We’re Looking For Proven experience (8+ years) in trust accounting and financial management within a legal or professional services environment. In-depth knowledge of relevant trust accounting regulations and compliance requirements. Strong understanding of practice management and accounting tools (experience with Clio is a requirement). Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial record‑keeping. Ability to produce clear, concise financial reports and explain figures to non‑financial stakeholders. Organised, proactive, and able to prioritise effectively in a fast‑paced environment. Collaborative team player who can also work autonomously.
