Principal Engineer (Data & AI Platform) - 6 Months Rolling Contract - AWS SageMaker Data AWS SageMaker About the company Our client is a major Australian enterprise undergoing significant AI-driven transformation. The organisation is scaling its data and AI capability, investing in modern platforms, and building future-ready foundations to enable secure, enterprise-wide AI innovation. About the role This Principal Data Engineer role leads the hands-on build of a new AI and ML platform. Reporting to a Product Owner and working in a small cross-functional team, it drives platform engineering, architecture, delivery, and user enablement across the enterprise. Benefits Competitive daily rate High-impact greenfield program Opportunity to set enterprise AI platform standards Flexible ways of working Work with modern cloud-native technologies and emerging AI capability Duties / Key responsibilities Lead the build and operationalisation of the AI Workbench platform Develop CI / CD, IaC, architecture artefacts, and scalable platform components Provide technical leadership across cloud-native AI / ML services Support user onboarding, platform adoption, optimisation, and performance Mentor engineers and collaborate across architecture, security, and product teams Skills and experience 10+ years delivering large-scale data and AI / ML platforms Expertise across AWS (SageMaker, Bedrock, S3, IAM) and cloud-native engineering Strong skills in Terraform / CloudFormation and CI / CD Experience establishing platform engineering standards in greenfield environments Ability to translate architecture into actionable technical design Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills Familiarity with LLMs, GenAI tooling, and prompt engineering (desirable) AWS or DevOps / ML Ops certifications (desirable) About Allura Partners Allura Partners was founded to support private equity firms by placing C‑Suites to lead, transform, and scale portfolio companies.
