About You – Key Skills and Experience Microsoft user management, Active Directory, workstation setup and maintenance, Office 365 and SharePoint. Experience with networks, routers, printers, scanners, wireless networking, hardware diagnosis and some repairs. On‑premise or cloud server experience, along with disaster prevention and recovery skills. Security configurations, networking, server and storage management in Microsoft Azure, on‑premises and AWS. System administration on Linux. Setting up and configuring routers and firewalls. General knowledge of Application Proxies. Good investigation and root‑cause analysis skills. Strong consultancy skills – ability to advise on a broad range of topics and communicate effectively with clients. Work with business leaders to solve complex challenges within their operating environment through technology. Database management and administration: Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL. Microsoft 365 licensing, Microsoft Defender, and security audit support. Knowledge of Essential 8, risk management, basic project management skills. OpnSense (open‑source firewall and routing software based on FreeBSD). Traefik (open‑source Application Proxy). Setting up an SSH Bastion on Linux. Containers/Docker on Linux. Supporting but not developing PHP/MySQL applications using phpMyAdmin. MongoDB support. Setting up replication between two MySQL databases. Experience with Huntress and penetration testing (Kali, open‑source tooling). Ability to act as a virtual / interim CIO for medium‑sized organizations. Quality IT certification and/or tertiary education. Driver’s licence, reliable vehicle, travel reimbursement. A professional corporate image. Positive work attitude, empathy, confidence, high performer with exceptional attention to detail and initiative.
