The Role We are seeking a proactive and detail-driven Project Accountant (Mid-Level) to manage cost reporting, financial analysis, and performance tracking across a portfolio of projects. This role offers autonomy and the opportunity to contribute directly to the financial success of our operations. You’ll work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Corporate Finance to ensure accuracy, compliance, and transparency in all financial reporting. Key Responsibilities Manage monthly project accounting and cost reporting cycles across designated projects. Track and analyse project budgets, forecasts, commitments, and actuals. Prepare and maintain project cost reports, variance analysis, and financial commentary. Provide accurate financial insights to support decision-making and commercial outcomes. Liaise with project teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting of costs and accruals. Support project reviews, cash flow forecasting, and profitability analysis. Contribute to process improvements in financial reporting and cost management systems. Maintain WIP schedules, revenue accruals, and cost tracking tools. Support Project Managers with cost visibility, budget control, and variance analysis. Reconcile plant and equipment hire costs, subcontractor claims, and variations. Assist with progress claims, retention tracking, RCTIs, and milestone reporting. Prepare labour costing, allowance validation, and payroll project costing. Provide financial insights and reporting to support commercial decision-making. About You Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field. 3–6 years’ experience in project accounting or cost control, ideally within civil construction, mining, or engineering. Strong understanding of WIP, cost reporting, and project financial processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and exposure to ERP/project accounting systems. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail. Effective communicator with the ability to work independently across multiple projects.
