Education Assistant - Special Needs Branch : Kondinin Primary School Division : Independent Public School - Wheatbelt Education Region Salary : Level 2 / 3, $ - $ per hour (EA (Gov) GA 2025) Work Type : Fixed Term - Full Time, Fixed Term - Part Time, Permanent - Full Time, Permanent - Part Time FTE : Location : Kondinin Closing Date : 4 : 30 PM We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period. The Role Suitable applicants will assist teaching staff in the delivery of planned education programmes and in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students. They will provide feedback on education and therapy programmes, participate in the evaluation of student progress, and support the general health and wellbeing of students. The role requires engaging with children exhibiting challenging behaviours. Applicants should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, collaborate well with teachers to create and maintain supportive education programmes, and utilise evidence‑based techniques for learning and behaviour. Experience or knowledge of disabilities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder is desirable. Applicants must be able to work under general supervision, provide advice and expertise, and collaborate with the school community to support student achievement. Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents, and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programmes, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary. Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programmes, including special education and therapy programmes where these have been implemented. Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programmes to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists. Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing education programmes, including special education and, if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programmes. Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents. Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well‑being of students.
