Your Role Occupational Therapists in the Department of Education work within school teams to support students to access their educational environment and participate in learning. Responsibilities Include Provide contemporary, evidence‑based occupational therapy services to students in state schools Provide occupational therapy services which adhere to legislation and Department of Education policies and procedures Work within multidisciplinary teams Work within a multi‑tiered system of support in schools Maintain knowledge and skills in providing occupational therapy in schoolsEngage in professional supervision Benefits Dedicated supervision and peer mentoring to assist with your professional support and ongoing development Comprehensive department and discipline‑specific induction programmes Professional development allowance with negotiation to complete in work hours (minimum 5 days paid per year) A supportive and flexible work environment, e.g. accrued time off for school holidays All required equipment provided, including laptop and mobile phone, access to fleet vehicles and travel allowance Access to the Employee Assistance Programme to support your wellbeing Salary packaging available Mandatory Qualifications Possession of a degree in occupational therapy from a recognised tertiary institution, or other equivalent formal qualifications acceptable to the Director‑General, Department of Education or delegate, and registration with the Occupational Therapists Board of Queensland Current registration or the ability to obtain registration prior to commencing employment with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) In accordance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000, registered health practitioners working within their professional capacity must hold valid registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency at all times during their employment for the purpose of satisfying the exemption requirements of the Act.
