Brooklyn, Victoria Yard Operator Sims Metal (Sims) is a global leader in metal recycling with facilities worldwide, committed to the circular economy and sustainable resource use. Our Brooklyn, Victoria yard is expanding, and we are looking for a hands‑on operator for the afternoon shift (3 pm–11 pm) who can also take on leadership responsibilities. Responsibilities Load and unload trucks, skip bins, and trailers. Operate plant equipment including material handlers, forklifts, loaders, excavators (where licensed). Grade, sort, and manage metals to meet operational and quality standards. Maintain site compliance with environmental guidelines and OH&S policies. Deliver excellent service to internal and external customers. Support afternoon shift operations with leadership and initiative. Clean and prepare the main production plant each day to ensure it’s ready for operation. Qualifications Experience operating forklifts – essential. Certifications for excavator, loader, skid steer, or other plant tickets – advantageous. Ability to work independently and take initiative. Hands‑on approach and willingness to be flexible. Strong attention to detail, reliability, and excellent attendance. Positive, can‑do attitude and openness to training to expand skills.
