Join a growing small team of young workers in our 37-year-old family business in Wangara, using various tools and machinery to manufacture high-quality solid timber beds. Work off customer orders to select, cut, prepare, trim and sand timber before joining, attaching brackets, oiling and packing in boxes for dispatch. Work as a team to push production further each month for a bigger bonus. Start off working full time and if we're both keen, get qualified with a Certificate III in Cabinet Making and Timber Technology through North Metro TAFE (Balga). BENEFITS FUN WORK - Enjoy making timber beds from start to finish in a casual and friendly team of 10+ people. NICE CONDITIONS - Onsite work only in our air-conditioned factory (rare) across the road from WannerooMarkets, cafes etc. FLEXIBLE HOURS - Full-time work Monday to Friday usually 8am-4pm (start 1 or 2 hours earlier if preferred). Flexible annual leave (4 weeks per year + public holidays). GOOD WEEKLY PAY - We pay ABOVE award rates with a monthly production bonuses and optional overtime. PAY RATES We don't just pay the normal minimum apprentice rates. We pay a production bonus to ALL employees EVERY month based on individual hours worked vs. production output. Average bonus for the last 12 months for a new employee at the starting bonus rate = $1.66 per hour (lowest bonus paid $0.97, highest $2.77). NO > Junior Apprentice 1st Year (under 21, not finished year 12) base rate $14.06 + average bonus $1.66 = $15.72 per hour. Increases to ~$19 after 1 year, ~$23 after 2 years and $27+ after 3 years. YES > Junior Apprentice 1st Year (under 21, finished year 12) base rate $15.46 + average bonus $1.66 = $17.12 per hour. Increases to ~$20 after 1 year, ~$23 after 2 years and $27+ after 3 years. Plus OPTIONAL overtime (currently max 5 hours per week) at a minimum 1.5x the award rate. Earn while you learn: get paid while you're at TAFE (4x full-time 2-week training blocks per year for 3 years). We reimburse all your TAFE training fees too. Get a $5000 apprenticeship grant from the government (*grants can change over time, please check with Apprenticeship Support Australia). WHO YOU ARE Interested in trying woodworking before becoming a qualified cabinet maker. OR recently started an Apprenticeship and not happy at your current job. Good attention to detail and work ethic. Transport to Wangara each day, or could carpool. No driver's license or tools required.
