Senior Biostatistician (2 positions available) Health Translation Hub, Randwick NSW – 19‑month Fixed Term contract, full time (35 hours a week). Base salary $127k–$143k plus 17% Superannuation and leave loading. Full Australian working rights required. Why this role matters The Senior Biostatistician supports the TRANSFORM and POST studies, designing, planning and analysing linked health data to evaluate opioid exposure, treatment outcomes and predictive models. The role reports to the Chief Investigator and has no direct reports. Responsibilities Design and analyse descriptive studies of opioid exposures and outcomes, and predictive modelling of treatment variables. Develop and maintain large, complex and linked longitudinal health datasets. Perform independent statistical analyses, provide direction in research design and statistical methodology. Mentor junior staff and contribute to peer‑reviewed publications and conference presentations. Qualifications Postgraduate degree in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology or a related discipline. At least 5 years’ experience developing machine learning models and analysing large health datasets. Highly developed data analysis skills, evidence of methodical and detailed approach to data exploration and cleaning, and proficiency in SAS. Strong understanding of ethical principles relating to privacy and confidentiality. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to build successful working relationships with a variety of people, both internal and external.
