1d ago , from Murdoch Childrens Research Institute Role Type: 12-month full time contractSalary: $68,933 – $73,151 per annum plus superannuation The opportunity: We are seeking a motivated Medical Laboratory Technician to perform DNA extractions on VCGS specimens, accurately document results in Labware (LIMS), and support general laboratory operations including participation in the Sendaways area. Working under the guidance of the Head of Unit, you will contribute to a high-quality diagnostic service while collaborating effectively within a team, managing tasks independently, and maintaining strong performance during periods of high workload. What you’ll do Performing DNA extractions on various types of tissues using a variety of automated platforms Performing DNA extraction using manual kits for various types of tissues including precious samples Performing manual and automated quantification, dilutions and normalisation Undertaking routine equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration commensurate with experience and training and in accordance with operator / training manual and other general laboratory duties Maintaining documentation according to the VCGS Quality System Providing technical support and training within laboratory What you’ll bring Diploma of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory), B.Sc., or equivalent Ability to manage time effectively, adequately prioritise workload, identify and have logical problem-solving skills A highly trained eye with attention to detail Thorough understanding of a diagnostic specimen reception department Previous experience in a fast-paced, NATA accredited diagnostic laboratory(Desirable) Any questions?
