Senior Software Engineer – Python/Go Commerce is the parent company of BigCommerce, Feedonomics, and Makeswift, building an AI‑powered commerce ecosystem. The B2B team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to build reliable, scalable systems powering merchants worldwide. What You’ll Do Build and maintain backend services and internal tools using Python and Go, focusing on clarity, performance, and reliability. Refactor existing codebases for maintainability and simplify long‑term architecture. Diagnose and resolve issues across the stack, including service logic, data flows, integrations, and API interactions. Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements, refine stories, and deliver high‑quality outcomes. Write clean, well‑tested code and contribute to team practices around testing, error handling, and observability. Participate in code reviews and mentor less experienced engineers. Identify opportunities to reduce technical debt, improve performance, and strengthen system resilience. Contribute to the developer experience through better tooling, documentation, and automation. Who You Are 4+ years of hands‑on engineering experience building backend or full‑stack products in Python, Go, TypeScript, or similar. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in CS, EE, SW, CE, MIS, or equivalent experience. Write maintainable, well‑tested code and take pride in improving the systems you work in. Comfortable working in existing services and designing new ones, solving data, API, and architecture problems. Communicate clearly, collaborate well with engineers and non‑engineers. Own outcomes, follow through on commitments, value reliability and predictability. Enjoy mentoring and supporting others, contribute positively to the team culture.
