Location: Cairns, Queensland, Australia Job Title: Computer Network and Systems Engineer Overview TJ Microsystems is a locally owned, managed IT provider in North Queensland, with offices in Cairns, Townsville and Brisbane. We are looking for a versatile, self‑motivated technician to join our Cairns office and support a diverse client base in designing, implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting Microsoft Server network environments. Responsibilities Support basic and complex network types ranging from 5 to 200+ users. Support Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Desktop Technologies and Cloud Environments. Install, configure, test, maintain and optimise networks, applications, servers and workstations. Configure and install routers, firewalls, network switches, printers, scanners and wireless access points. Perform network security analysis and design. Assess and recommend improvements in client IT network environments (optimisation, upgrades, rack tidy‑ups). Create and update IT documentation: disaster recovery plans, system guidelines and procedures. Design and integrate network and IT systems including third‑party applications. Provide strategic IT planning for on‑premises, legacy and cloud infrastructure. Occasionally work outside of normal business hours to accommodate client needs. Travel to client premises as required; a current Australian driver’s licence is essential. Qualifications 1–10 years experience in design, implementation, maintenance, support and troubleshooting of Microsoft Server network environments. Experience with managed IT services, networking, virtualization and equivalent Bachelor’s degree or higher. Experience using RMM tools (Labtech, Kaseya, N‑Able) and PSA ticketing tools (ConnectWise, Autotask) is an advantage. Strong time‑management, communication and interpersonal skills; fluent English.
