Advanced Trainee Registrars

Your Role at St John Geelong Hospital We are currently recruiting Advanced Trainee Registrars - Emergency Medicine to join the team on a full time, fixed term basis commencing semester one February 2026 and semester two August 2026. This role is suitable for T2 and T3 trainees. One-on-one time with enthusiastic FACEMs - every shift. Inpatient services include a 12 bed ICU, 16 bed CCU, Special Care Nursery and 13 theatres. Over 17,000 patients per year, with approximately 15% paediatric presentations and 25% admissions ACEM-accredited for up to 6 months advanced training in ED (linked with University Hospital Geelong) Excellent exposure to wide variety of pathologies in a mixed Emergency A flexible, family friendly roster A family friendly region with great schools & childcare options Part time & full-time positions available Access to the incredible lifestyle advantages that come with living & working in the Geelong region: world-class beaches, river & bay activities, cycling, arts, wineries, cafes & bars, excellent schools and < 1hour to Melbourne The Position Manages Emergency Department (ED) patients under the direction of Emergency Medicine Consultants. Supportive FACEM-lead team-based care Works with hospital nursing staff to facilitate patient management including completing pathology requests, booking radiology and other procedures and checks investigation results and follows-up abnormal results . Carry out procedures within capabilities and experience. Commit to a team approach in the delivery of care, working closely with nursing staff, allied health professions, members of pastoral care services, and other clinicians both onsite and offsite. Communicates/liaises with General Practitioners, Consultants and Specialists as appropriate. Documents findings in the patient’s medical record and completes all related documentation. Develops strong collegiate relationships with other managers. Develops and maintains effective networks and relationships with all professional groups both within and external to the organisation in order to build proactive and visible partnerships in pursuance of service related improvements Participates in after-hours and weekend rosters. You will be eligible for registration as a medical practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA), with a minimum of 3 years clinical experience and a demonstrated knowledge in clinical and procedural experience in an equivalent ED setting and be an ACEM trainee. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to demonstrate clinical and procedural experience commensurate with clinical responsibilities of Registrar Above all, people will be at the core of everything you do committing to and supporting our Mission and Values.
