About The Opportunity We are seeking two enthusiastic Urban Planners to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. You will play a key role in the delivery of land use, housing, and infrastructure strategies across Blacktown. Why You Will Love This Role Gain experience in one of NSW’s most complex and high-growth urban environments Be mentored by experienced senior planners and strategic leaders Contribute to policy and strategy development, research and spatial analysis What You Will Be Doing Assist in the preparation of local planning strategies, LEPs, DCPs and planning proposals Conduct research and data analysis to inform planning projects Support stakeholder consultation and community engagement activities Provide planning advice to internal stakeholders and assist with planning certificate updates Essential - Qualifications and experience Degree qualifications in planning or a relevant or related field As a guide a minimum of 12 months experience in urban planning or a related field Ability to prepare written documents and professional reports in plain English to a diverse audience Ability to manage projects relating to the urban environment Understanding of the New South Wales Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Local Government Act 1993 and other relevant legislation, regulations, state planning policies and instruments Demonstrated oral communication, information technology, data analysis, research, analytical and other problem-solving skills Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment Ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and deliver outcomes on time and to a high standard Conduct that demonstrates to others Council's commitment to teamwork, customer focus, innovation, creativity, quality service and safety Current class C driver’s licence Desirable Experience in master planning, or the development of planning strategies Experience working as a planner in Local Government, State Government and/or the Private Sector Remuneration And Benefits The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
