Full Job Description – Primary Design Engineer Overview We are currently recruiting for a Primary Design Engineer in a permanent role to be based in Brisbane, for our client who are an established but growing organisation in the Power Transmission & Distribution sector. Responsibilities Design and develop high-quality Primary High Voltage (HV) systems, including layouts, schematics, and detailed design documentation. Conduct engineering and technical analysis, producing comprehensive reports and design calculations. Ensure all designs meet client requirements, industry standards, and project specifications. Coordinate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated substation designs. Support tendering, estimation, and project management activities when required. Prepare and review detailed substation primary designs including single-line diagrams, general arrangements, and equipment layouts. Provide technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning of primary systems. Ensure compliance with company and client Quality, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures. Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the project team. Required Experience Strong background in electrical engineering with a focus on primary substation design and HV systems. Proficiency in preparing and reviewing detailed design drawings and calculations. Experience in HV substation design, including switchgear, transformers, and busbar configurations. Familiarity with industry standards, specifications, and relevant Australian codes. Strong report writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Experience in tender and project management support is advantageous. Commitment to safety and quality in design and project delivery. Qualifications Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or equivalent.
