We are seeking a passionate reporter to be based in Morwell, Traralgon or Moe, who thrives on driving their own ideas for engaging digital content and who has a genuine interest in advocating for regional Australia and your specific local community. Responsibilities Identify and develop stories across a range of topics including crime, court, local government, development, education and human interest that are relevant and engaging for your local community, and produce engaging, accurate, and clean copy. Build genuine connections across the community. Lead and inspire digital content through story development of the highest quality. Harness the many storytelling tools that digital has to offer to drive engagement with stories (interactives, video, graphics). Use data analytics to find new trends and track what content is performing online. Use that information to deliver stories that inspire, inform and engage the community. Use best practice on social media to sell your stories, drive subscription growth for the digital masthead and increase traffic to the website. Who are you? Previous writing and newsroom experience is advantageous. Ideally you already have a network from the local community and are currently living or prepared to live in a regional centre – choose your own adventure. Fantastic interviewing skills and a natural curiosity that drives you to discover the stories that will make an impact. A stickler for detail and excellent spelling and grammar. SEO and social media experience an advantage. Passionate about advocating and being the voice of the local community.
