Data Governance Program Manager - 12 month Fixed Term Contract As a Data Governance Program Manager, you will lead and oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of data governance and security initiatives across Atlassian’s people technology landscape. You’ll partner with business, engineering, and governance teams to design technical solutions that support strong data protection and compliance. Overview You’ll work in a flexible environment that supports remote or onsite work wherever you’re located. The role is a 12‑month fixed‑term contract focused on delivering high‑impact data governance programs. Responsibilities Partner with Business, Engineering, Data and Governance teams to design, implement, and maintain technical solutions for our people technology landscape. Support the design and delivery of Data Governance solutions across a large technical landscape in a fast‑paced environment. Manage the end‑to‑end delivery lifecycle of programs—including scheduling, resourcing, budgeting, tracking, benefits, and communication with executive stakeholders. Facilitate the change management process and ensure program adoption, ensuring changes are managed effectively. Serve as a strategic partner by fostering strong relationships throughout the program lifecycle with cross‑functional teams and business‑facing stakeholders. Drive delivery across multiple business and engineering teams, managing interdependent teams and complex programme outcomes. Qualifications 7+ years of relevant technical program management experience focused on Data Governance, Access Management, Compliance, Data Quality, and Security. Technical expertise with role‑based access controls, data lifecycle controls, data classification & lineage, data retention, depreciation, and deletion within the people technology domain. Desirable experience with people technology (Workday & Atlassian solutions). Proven track record of establishing a robust data governance framework and ensuring compliance with all data policies. Excellent verbal, written, and influencing skills—including experience facilitating meetings and engaging with an executive audience. Strong experience using Atlassian tools such as Jira, Jira Service Management, Confluence, and Loom. Agile or PMP certification highly desirable.
