About the Role The Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer (AHLO) plays a key role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients admitted to hospitals within the Riverland Mallee Coorong Local Health Network (RMCLHN). As a trusted cultural partner to clinical teams, you will ensure patients' care is delivered in a culturally appropriate, respectful, and sensitive manner. Responsibilities Assist patients and their escorts in navigating the healthcare system from admission to discharge. Liaise with home community health centres to support continuity of care. Bridge communication between clinicians and patients, explaining health procedures in a culturally respectful and easy-to-understand way. Coordinate transport arrangements and advocate for the use of interpreters where needed. Ensure Aboriginal is acknowledged in health records. Provide cultural support and act as an advocate for Aboriginal health needs within the hospital setting. Demonstrated experience establishing, developing and maintaining effective networks, alliances and relationships with Aboriginal individuals, organisations and communities.
