About the Role We’re seeking a motivated Plant and Equipment Inspector (Off/On-Hire) to join our Pinjarra workshop. In this role, you’ll inspect and document the condition of vehicles, plant, and machinery upon return from hire, ensuring accurate records and communicating any issues to relevant teams. You’ll also assist with parts ordering and provide support across the on/off hire department, including leave coverage when required. This full-time position offers a competitive salary. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and have experience in trades, manufacturing, or related fields such as panel repair or insurance assessment. Responsibilities Conduct a thorough inspection of Toyota LV’s, Isuzu Trucks & Caterpillar Earthmoving Equipment of incoming (off-hire) and outgoing (on-hire) vehicles, plant and machinery checking for damages, mileage, fuel levels, and other key details. Accurately record all findings, including any pre-existing damage via TPH processes and systems. Take photos of vehicles, plant and machinery as required for documentation purposes and off-hire charges/repairs. Assign identification tags or stickers to vehicles, plant and machinery for tracking and ensure they are placed in designated areas. Notify management of any discrepancies, damages, or concerns related to vehicle, plant and or machinery condition. Conduct other workplace inspections as directed to support compliance, maintenance, and operational standards. Follow all TPH policies and safety procedures during inspections. Liaise with parts representatives or relevant personnel to ensure accuracy in the off-hire process. Issue purchase orders to assist the parts department when required. Assist with sourcing of parts and materials for the ongoing maintenance of equipment and other duties when required. Assist with leave coverage within the parts department when required. Follow all WHS policies and procedures as required. Qualifications High attention to detail and accuracy in recording vehicle, plant and machinery conditions. Sound knowledge of vehicle, plant and machinery components and ability to identify damages. Experience and/or knowledge of CAT, Isuzu and Toyota machinery/equipment. Strong written and verbal communication. Sound computer skills in Excel, MS and MYOB. Ability to use mobile devices, tablets, or computers for data entry. Ability to work in outdoor environments and stand for extended periods. Knowledge in sourcing of parts and materials for vehicles, plant, and machinery. High attention to detail, problem solving capabilities, a team player and able to work independently. Preferred previous experience as a qualified mechanic, fitter or panel trade with post apprenticeship accreditation. Ideally, you’ve worked on or have a broad knowledge with a large range of motor vehicles, plant and machinery. Applicants must be based in Perth and eligible to work in Australia. A pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening, will be required. A current Police Clearance may also be requested.
