People With Disability Australia – Noosaville QLD PWDA is seeking a full-time regional individual advocate who is based on the Sunshine Coast for a 12-month fixed term contract (with possibility to extend). About the role We are seeking a passionate and skilled Advocate who share our values, to provide issue-based advocacy support to people with disability living in the Sunshine Coast region. This role is vital in promoting, protecting, and realising the human, legal, and service user rights of people with disability, in line with the National Disability Advocacy Program (NDAP) and Queensland Disability Advocacy Program (QDAP). You will work directly with clients via face-to-face and telephone advocacy, particularly supporting individuals with cognitive impairments and/or communication challenges. Your presence in the region will strengthen our local engagement. No two days are the same as you assist clients in decision-making, complaints, legal access, and referrals; engage with local networks and promote PWDA services; support intake and referral processes during high demand and contribute to systemic advocacy and organisational activities. Note: This is a fully remote position. Applicants must have access to a suitable and private home workspace that supports confidentiality and productivity. Here are our non-negotiables You reside in the Sunshine Coast region. You have a demonstrated understanding of disability rights and relevant legislation. You have experience supporting clients in distress and navigating feedback and complaints. You have a commitment to trauma-informed and culturally competent practice. You have exceptional communication skills. You have experience using a client management system and managing client files and information. Bonus points if you have relevant tertiary qualifications and/or lived experience of disability.
