Mine Technical Services Superintendent | Greenfield Mine Development | FIFO Expat Role About the Opportunity Opportunity knocks for an experienced Mine Technical Services Superintendent to work on a landmark APAC 'mega project', and at the greenfield stage. Offering the rare opportunity to be involved prior to production, establishing mine planning standards, technical systems, and processes from inception as part of a world-class Mining team. Working on an expat FIFO basis, from any global point of hire, you will lead a multidisciplinary technical services team including mine planners, engineers, surveyors, and geotechnical engineers. The role is pivotal in ensuring mine designs are safe, cost-effective, and aligned with operational strategies while developing local capability and fostering a culture of technical excellence across this significant open pit mining operation. Location : Reko Diq, Pakistan Reports to : Mine Technical Services Manager Department : Mining The role: The Mine Technical Services Superintendent is responsible for leading, mentoring, and developing a multidisciplinary technical services team including mine planners, engineers, surveyors, and geotechnical engineers. This leadership role involves overseeing the development and implementation of short, medium, and long-term mine plans, managing survey operations, and ensuring geotechnical assessments and ground control practices are designed and implemented to the highest standards. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Leadership Management Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary technical services team including mine planners, engineers, surveyors, and geotechnical engineers. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, technical excellence, and safety. Development of in-country local skills. Provide coverage for the Mine Technical Services Manager when on rotation. Mine Planning Engineering Assist the Chief Mining Engineer to oversee development and implementation of short, medium, and long-term mine plans. Standardization of mine planning processes, workflows and systems. Ensure that mine designs are safe, cost-effective, and in line with operational strategies and life-of-mine objectives. Provide technical input into operational planning and budgeting processes. Review and sign off mine plans, designs, haulage strategies, and infrastructure layouts. Review and sign off drill blast designs. Survey Assist the Chief Surveyor to manage survey team to ensure accurate data collection, stockpile measurement, and compliance with regulatory and operational requirements. Ensure survey control and reporting systems are up to date and accurate. G eotechnical Engineering Assist the Chief Geotechnical Engineer to oversee geotechnical assessments, monitoring programs, and slope stability management. Ensure ground control practices are designed and implemented in accordance with best practices and site-specific geotechnical models. Liaise with external geotechnical consultants as needed. Qualifications and Experience Education : Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering (or similar with significant mine planning experience) Experience : 8-10 years of experience in open cut mining, with at least 3 years of previous leadership experience Expert knowledge in short, medium, and long term mine planning Experienced user of mine planning software such as Deswik or Alastri Drill Blast knowledge is essential Understanding of survey practices and equipment Understanding of geotechnical practices and monitoring systems Previous expat experience is highly regarded Previous greenfield experience is highly regarded Technical Skills : Knowledge of civil construction and bulk earthworks is highly regarded Skills and Capabilities Core Competencies : Strong leadership and people management skills with ability to mentor and develop multidisciplinary teams Expert knowledge of mine planning processes, workflows, and systems Strong technical expertise in mine design, haulage strategies, and infrastructure planning Understanding of geotechnical principles and ground control practices Proficiency with mine planning software (Deswik, Alastri) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with focus on continuous improvement Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all organizational levels Commitment to safety excellence and technical excellence culture Ability to provide technical input into budgeting and operational planning processes What We Offer A competitive salary is offered, with short and long-term incentives.
