Lead with purpose and impact Deliver innovative housing solutions for Queenslanders Shape the future of social housing and community wellbeing The Queensland Government is delivering an ambitious agenda to ensure every Queenslander has access to safe, secure and affordable housing. The Executive Director, Housing Growth will be at the forefront of this commitment, driving the design, delivery and innovation needed to increase the supply of state‑owned social housing across Queensland. This is more than a leadership role – it’s an opportunity to create lasting impact for generations of Queenslanders. Working with industry, communities and across government, you will champion new approaches to housing delivery, including partnerships with the private sector, modular and sustainable construction, and tailored solutions for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities across remote, regional and urban areas. About the Department of Housing and Public Works The Department of Housing and Public Works is committed to building a brighter future for all Queenslanders through housing, building and service innovation. They deliver not just homes, but safe, secure places where people can live, thrive and contribute, all while strengthening Queensland’s construction sector, driving government procurement reform and engaging youth and communities in meaningful ways. Being part of the department means being part of something meaningful. You’ll work in an environment driven by values, where integrity, partnership, inclusion and innovation are front and centre. With a focus on unleashing potential, acting courageously and delivering outcomes that matter, this is a place where you can grow, lead change and help realise the vision of a smarter, fairer and more resilient Queensland. About the Role Reporting to the General Manager, Social Housing Delivery Office, the Executive Director will play a pivotal role in achieving the State’s target of 53,500 social homes by 2044, ensuring that delivery is both innovative and inclusive. You will: Lead large‑scale social housing initiatives, accelerating supply through innovative models, strategic partnerships and capital delivery programs. Foster collaboration across departments, agencies and jurisdictions to deliver coordinated, integrated and culturally responsive housing outcomes. Drive partnerships with industry, peak bodies and community organisations to unlock new financing and delivery models, leveraging opportunities through the Social Housing Accelerator and Housing Australia Future Fund. Inspire and lead a multidisciplinary team, cultivating a high‑performing culture, driven by purpose that delivers outcomes with integrity and care. About You You are a strategic, values‑led leader with a passion for creating meaningful change. You bring a proven record of success leading complex programs and partnerships, and an ability to unite stakeholders around a shared vision. Your background may span government, industry or the not‑for‑profit sector, but what defines you is your ability to deliver, to turn policy into action, and ambition into outcomes. You are recognised for your: Proven leadership in large, complex organisations and ability to deliver results through collaboration and innovation. Deep understanding of housing, infrastructure or community development delivery at scale. Skill in navigating complex stakeholder environments and achieving consensus across competing priorities. Strategic foresight, integrity and the ability to inspire teams through purpose and example. As a senior leader in the Queensland public sector, you will embody the Leadership Competencies for Queensland, providing clear vision, achieving results through others, and modelling accountability, inclusion and respect in every decision. Why Join Us? This is a defining moment for social housing in Queensland. As Executive Director, Housing Growth you will have the unique opportunity to lead one of the State’s most important social and economic missions, delivering housing that changes lives, supports communities and builds a fairer, more inclusive Queensland. You will join a department that values innovation, collaboration and diversity, and where leaders are trusted to make a difference. This is your opportunity to contribute at scale, shaping Queensland’s housing future and leaving a legacy of safe, secure homes for all.
