Community Development Specialist

Overview Bayside Council is recruiting a Community Development Specialist - Positive Ageing. Based in Hillsdale with free all day parking and public transport, you will be part of a high performing team delivering key community activities. The City Life directorate delivers personalised and public services to enhance community life, including family, aged, leisure and cultural services. About the role This position drives the delivery and evaluation of a comprehensive Bayside positive ageing program, a contemporary program of activities for older people in our LGA and oversees delivery of Council\'s Age Friendly Communities Strategy. We are looking for an experienced professional with excellent communication and collaborative teamwork skills, with experience in developing interesting recreational, cultural, social and educational activities and programs for older people. The role is also responsible for coordinating Council\'s Commonwealth Home Support Program (Sector Support and Development) by coordinating delivery of the Activity Workplan. About you Develop, deliver, and evaluate an annual positive ageing program including social, cultural, recreational and educational activities in partnership with the Bayside Seniors Network. Research and develop best practice programming and initiatives that support older Bayside residents remain living independently in their homes for as long as possible. Actively participate in local and regional stakeholder networks to advocate for improvements in state and federally funded services for older Bayside residents. Develop specific activities where gaps exist, source funding and aim for independence and future sustainability. Increase the capacity of other service providers to support positive ageing and ensure great partnerships internally and externally. Tertiary or other qualifications and / or equivalent experience in a relevant field. Ability to work effectively as part of a high performing team of Community Development Specialists, ensuring that deadlines are met and customer requests are attended to in a timely manner. Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with ability to work respectfully and collaboratively with older people. Demonstrated understanding of the issues influencing positive, healthy active ageing. Flexibility to work across varied hours and locations as required. Current Drivers Licence Class C.
