Project Overview Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets. The M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world. Job Summary In this role, you will be responsible for estimating, analysis and control activities for projects with significant non‑routine requirements or for cost activities which require a high degree of technical skill. You will prepare cost studies, review cost trends, and develop and implement project requirements for cost control. Your detailed analysis will provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges. Major Responsibilities Responsible for cost estimating, analysis, and control activities for projects with significant non‑routine requirements or for cost activities which require a high degree of technical skill. Analyzes to provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges. Develops and implements project requirements for cost control in accordance with established Bechtel and client contractual requirements, objectives, and procedures. Ensures work is completed as scheduled, supporting project organizational and administrative activities. Prepares cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons. Reviews identified cost trends for cost effectiveness and suggesting alternatives when appropriate. Maintains open communications with other organizations to support cost engineering analysis and control activities. Education And Experience Requirements Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 8‑10 years of relevant experience or 12‑14 years of relevant work experience. Required Knowledge And Skills Experience in directing project cost engineering, including cost control and analysis, cost reporting, incurred cost assessment and conducting meetings. Experience in establishing criteria for Project Controls cost activities and in cost and commitment and incurred cost analysis and management. Skilled in oral and written communication, with demonstrated ability to present Project Controls information to management/client. Advanced level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start‑up work processes, as performed by Bechtel. Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience. Working Rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required.
