Operations Manager/Multi-Engine Pilot

Little Wings is a leading not-for-profit organisation supporting NSW, ACT and QLD regional families and their seriously ill children by providing free and safe transportation to the Children’s Hospitals in Sydney, Brisbane and Newcastle and home again. Little Wings is a charity flight service owner-operator in the aviation industry that meets or exceeds all of the CASA safety regulations. Little Wings also operates a fleet of modern Hyundai vehicles for safe and comfortable return transfers from Bankstown, Archerfield and Cessnock airports or the metro airports to the Children's Hospitals. The Little Wings organisation relies upon its loyal core of volunteer pilots and drivers to deliver service excellence. Our vision is for every child regardless of geographical location to receive rapid and easy access to specialised medical services. This a full-time position based at Bankstown Aerodrome and is predominantly a ground-based role. Flying is undertaken only when required to provide operational coverage. CURRENT OPPORTUNITY We are looking for someone passionate and motivated to champion our mission and support families from regional and rural NSW and QLD as they care for their sick child. This position will suit someone who is ready to grow within the general aviation community by building strong industry contacts, developing their operational knowledge, and gaining hands‑on experience across a wide range of day‑to‑day tasks. It is an ideal role for someone who wants exposure to aircraft operations, regulatory requirements, and the practical realities of running a busy, volunteer‑driven aviation organisation. The Operations Manager is responsible for the day‑to‑day coordination and delivery of all operational activities across Little Wings. This role ensures efficient scheduling, resource management and support services to enable the safe and reliable delivery of flight and ground missions. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Oversee daily operational activities to ensure timely and effective delivery of flight and ground missions. Coordinate flight scheduling, aircraft availability and pilot rostering in collaboration with the Head of Flying Operations while liaising with families and healthcare providers. Support the HOFO with operational compliance with CASA and organisational policies and contribute to risk management processes. Ensure accurate record‑keeping of flights, crew hours, and operational data in AirMaestro, including setting up flight crew and reviewing pilot currency. Conduct flight or training missions as directed by HOFO. Quarterly operation meetings. Support HAMC/HOFO as required with aircraft maintenance and movements. Oversee the scheduling of missions, pilot rostering, aircraft & COM allocation, ensuring clear communications with volunteers and accurate Takeflite and mission details. TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE THE FOLLOWING WILL BE IMPORTANT: Ability to maintain composure and find solutions to changing circumstances. Strong written and verbal skills. A positive and motivated disposition. Experience in aviation operations management with a strong understanding of all CASA regulations. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Multi‑engine instrument rating (2D and 3D). Current IPC. 1000hrs Total Time. Police Check and/or current Red ASIC. Working with Children Check and current unrestricted driver's license and check. QUALIFICATIONS DESIRABLE: 100hrs Instrument Time. BE58 or PA-31 Experience.
