Wodonga South Primary School is integrated with the vibrant Southern Rise Children's Centre and seeks passionate educators to join our thriving community. The site, known as Southern Rise Education Centre, will have 420 students in 2025 across 19 engaging class groups, including 2 Foundation classes, 5 Year 1/2s, 6 Year 3/4s, and 6 Year 5/6s. Our Co‑Teaching approach ensures every educator works in a supportive and enriching environment, collaborating with specialist teachers in Performing Arts, Visual Arts, the Kindness Project, and Physical Education. The close‑knit relationship with Southern Rise Children's Centre, which includes Maternal and Child Health services, Long Day Care, Playgroups, and 3‑ and 4‑year‑old Preschool Programs, supports smooth transitions and strong communication between our Preschool and school communities. We are committed to fostering inclusivity for all students through our School‑Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) program, ensuring every child receives the attention and support they need to succeed. Selection Criteria SC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills, and experience responding to student learning needs. SC2: Experience planning and implementing high‑impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programmes on student growth. SC3: Experience monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform teaching practice, and providing feedback to students and parents on learning growth and achievement. SC4: Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and experience establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community. SC5: Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values and experience reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning to continually improve teaching quality. Role The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges – range 1 and range 2. The primary focus is on planning, preparing, and teaching programmes to achieve specific student outcomes. Teachers engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills and support student engagement. As teachers gain experience, their contribution to the school program beyond the classroom increases, and they may be required to undertake additional duties provided the responsibility is appropriate to the salary range, qualifications, training and experience. Classroom Teacher – Range 2 Use content knowledge and pedagogical practice to meet diverse student needs. Model exemplary classroom practice and mentor/coach other teachers, supporting staff to expand capacity. Provide expert advice about content, processes and strategies that shape professional learning. Supervise and train one or more student teachers. Assist staff to use student data to inform teaching approaches and achieve learning targets. Classroom Teacher – Range 1 Further develop skills and competencies to become an effective classroom practitioner with structured support from higher‑level teachers. Teach a range of students/classes and deliver specific outcomes under general direction. Participate in policy development and implementation of school priorities. Support classroom management, subject content and teaching practice, and supervise or train student teachers where appropriate. Responsibilities Direct teaching of groups and individual students. Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum areas or programmes. Undertake classroom teaching‑related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal. Participate in activities such as parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions. Undertake non‑teaching supervisory duties as required. Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have experience in the specified curriculum area(s). Regional Relocation Incentives (RRI) This position is advertised as part of the Regional Relocation Incentives (RRI) and includes retention payments. Payments and Support on Offer Reimbursement of relocation expenses (up to $5,000 ) and support to identify suitable housing. $10,000 (before‑tax) retention payments – pro‑rata for positions less than full‑time – at the conclusion of the second, third and fourth years of employment, for a total of up to $30,000 (before‑tax). Each payment is subject to successful completion of employment milestones. RRI Candidate Eligibility Criteria The successful candidate must be a new employee to this school. The successful candidate must remain employed for 2 years to receive the initial retention payment and for subsequent years to receive third‑year and fourth‑year payments. The candidate must meet relocation requirements, such as ordinarily residing at least one hour away from the school at the time of application and relocating. The candidate’s ordinary residence must not be classified as Remote Australia (Vic.) or Outer Regional Australia (Vic.), or Inner Regional Australia (Vic.) where the school is located. Qualification Requirements Provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching. For those who completed an Australian postgraduate level initial teaching program or course of study on or after 1 January 2024, a satisfactory completion of a postgraduate level accredited initial teacher education program is required. Graduates from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education (ITE) program after 1 July 2016 must also demonstrate that they have passed the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE) requirements.
