Operations Manager – Truganina, Department of Justice and Community Safety, Victoria We are seeking an Operations Manager for Port Phillip Prison located in Truganina. The role involves day‑to‑day service delivery, staff leadership, compliance, and continuous quality improvement. About the Business Unit The Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) group – comprising Corrections Victoria, Justice Health and Justice Services – develops safer and more resilient communities and delivers a trusted justice and community safety system. Corrections Victoria implements policies, programs and services that ensure the safe and secure containment of prisoners while rehabilitating offenders and managing community‑based supervision. Port Phillip Prison (St Johns Subacute Unit) delivers holistic, multidisciplinary care, encouraging reintegration and using advanced technology to enhance security and operations. About the Role Reporting to the General Manager, Operations Managers lead day‑to‑day service delivery and are responsible for all aspects of the operation and performance of the prison. They support, coach and guide prison‑based staff, promote wellbeing, develop capability, and embed respect and human rights. Operations Managers lead a team to deliver offender management and services that promote rehabilitation and achieve good order, safety and security. As part of the leadership team, they establish compliance, lead continuous quality improvement and ensure contemporary correctional practice meets Corrections standards. Some of Your Duties Will Include Manage all aspects of operational service delivery and prison operations across Port Phillip Prison. Lead, supervise and guide staff, developing individual capability via performance management and ongoing professional development. Establish a system for responding promptly to requests, complaints and concerns from people in custody, prioritising urgent or complex matters. About You Demonstrated experience in providing leadership within a highly complex service delivery area, preferably relating to clients with multiple and complex needs and/or within a legislative framework. Experience managing sexual or violent offenders or in a correctional environment is considered favourably. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to negotiate appropriate resolutions to complex and sensitive issues. Experience developing and reviewing operating procedures and policies. Qualifications Completed Pre‑service Prison Officer Training – Mandatory. A current Victorian driver licence is required.
