Science Technician (Chemical Residue Testing) Osborne Richardson is the recruitment partner for the Queensland State Government’s Chemical Residue testing/analysis team. In this role, you will be based at Coopers Plains in Southern Brisbane and will join the team initially until 30th June 2026 , with potential extension thereafter. Responsibilities Work independently under direction to deliver analytical chemistry testing services. Apply chemical techniques to enable rapid and accurate quantification of insecticide residues in environmental samples. Perform scientific tasks in accordance with SOPs, WIs, protocols, and methodologies to support valid data generation and compliance with NATA accreditation, workplace health and safety, and legislative obligations. Participate in a multidisciplinary laboratory team and assist other areas upon request from the Laboratory Manager and Principal Scientist. Maintain, check, and arrange calibration of laboratory equipment according to the quality maintenance schedule. Prepare reagents and monitor/ensure supply of consumables. Clean work areas, equipment, and materials. Prepare, collect, and manage samples ensuring integrity through appropriate preservation, handling, and transport. Perform tests and conduct analyses, collecting and recording analytical data using defined systems. Perform other moderately complex scientific technical activities as directed. Qualifications Experience operating within a Laboratory Quality Management System. Experience using GC-MS is desirable but not essential.
