Working as part of a team you will develop skills and knowledge to prepare you for a career in the maritime industry.

In this role you'll:

Get hands on training and experience whilst obtaining a nationally recognised qualification

  • Understand and adhere to the NSW Work Health and Safety concepts and requirements.
  • Plan and carry out daily work programs per assigned schedules.
  • Read and understand written instructions, complete basic forms, documentation and reports.
  • Follow instructions and adhere to all safety requirements of the position.

No previous experience is required – you’ll learn everything you need to know throughout the program.

About you :

  • You're an enthusiatic team player, with a great attitude, quick learner who enjosys being phyicaly active and is passtionate about our waterways.
  • You can demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.
  • You are willing to learn and are able to manage your time and priorities effectively. 

Essential Requirements:

  • Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person
  • Minimum of 16 years of age at the commencement of traineeship
  • You have completed a Year 10 minimum educational qualification.
  • You can demonstrate basic level of swimming knowledge and experience

What’s on offer? 

  • One-year program that combines paid work and structured training, allowing you to receive a nationally accredited qualification upon completion.
  • Certificate II in Maritime Operations (completed in house at Maritime)
  • You will have an opportunity to apply for a second year working with Maritime for career development.
  • Work in different areas of Maritime including Service Delivery, Operations, Environmental Services and Boating Education.
  • Applicable allowances, employer’s superannuation contribution and annual leave loading

This is an Aboriginal-identified role as it involved the development and development and delivery of services and programs which impact or require liaison with Aboriginal people and/or communities.
