Wujal Wujal isan Aboriginal community in Far North Queensland's Cape York Peninsula, named for the "many falls" in its World Heritage-listed environment rich with rainforests, rivers, and sacred waterfalls. Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Council is responsible for ensuring that our community of around 400 residents and those from more remote surrounding areas have access to essential services. About the Position Council is currently seeking an Finance Officer to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in the financial operations of Council, ensuring efficiency in Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and other general finance functions. Duties include, but are not limited to: Process payroll transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Award conditions, taxation and superannuation requirements. Process invoices, purchase orders and payments in accordance with Council’s financial policies. Generate and issue invoices, and monitor outstanding debts and follow up overdue accounts. Assist with bank reconciliation and data entry. Support grant financial reporting and acquittal. This is a full-time position working 36.25 hours, Monday to Friday each week. The position is based in Wujal Wujal. Skills and Experience The ideal candidate will possess the following: Experience in a similar position, and with similar functions. Strong understanding of financial processing, reconciliations and internal controls. High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and maintaining confidentiality. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
