About this role: The Library Technician provides frontline library support by managing circulation tasks, maintaining collections, preparing equipment, and assisting students and staff with technology. This role involves a mix of customer service, resource organisation, administrative duties, and light technical troubleshooting. You will work closely with teachers, students, the Principal and other staff to ensure the library runs smoothly and remains a welcoming space for learning. Key responsibilities: Answering and directing incoming calls to the library Managing borrowing, returns, overdue notices and general circulation tasks Shelving, shelf-reading and ensuring resources are organised and accessible Cataloguing new books and resources, printing labels, barcoding and book covering Assisting students with computers, iPads, printing, login issues and photocopiers Preparing and issuing equipment booked via online systems (e.g., iPads, cameras, exam dividers) Maintaining and ordering photocopier/printing supplies (toner, staples), and making service calls when required Liaising with staff and students to meet resource and information needs Maintaining the library environment so it is clean, tidy and conducive to learning Creating displays and assisting reading-promotion activities and competitions Archiving newspapers and maintaining stock records Liaising with external suppliers and monitoring library supply levels Conducting library inventory and preparing reports when requested Researching and assisting with the purchase of new resources to support teaching and learning Key Selection Criteria: Certificate III or IV in Library and Information Services OR another relevant certificate-level qualification OR equivalent relevant experience Ability to use or learn library systems, cataloguing procedures and Dewey Decimal organisation Strong ICT confidence, including assisting users with printing, photocopying, and basic troubleshooting Good communication and interpersonal skills, particularly with students and staff Strong organisational ability and attention to detail Commitment to child safety and school values Possess or willingness to obtain a Working with Children Check for paid employment.
