Talent Acquisition Consultant @APAC Carecone Australia Location: Melbourne Employment type: Full-time Seniority level: Mid-Senior level Job function: Information Technology Industries: Staffing and Recruiting Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Automation Lead to spearhead our test automation initiatives, with a strong focus on API testing and expertise in Rest Assured. The ideal candidate will lead automation strategy, mentor team members, and ensure delivery of high‑quality software through robust automated testing frameworks. Key Responsibilities Lead the design, development, and maintenance of automation frameworks for API and backend services. Drive adoption of Rest Assured for API automation across projects. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (developers, QA, product owners) to define test strategies and ensure coverage. Establish best practices for automation, CI/CD integration, and test data management. Mentor and guide junior automation engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence. Perform code reviews, ensure adherence to coding standards, and optimize automation scripts for scalability. Provide regular reporting on automation progress, coverage, and quality metrics. Stay updated with emerging tools, frameworks, and industry trends in test automation. Required Skills & Experience 8+ years of experience in software testing, with at least 3+ years in automation leadership roles. Strong hands‑on expertise in API testing using Rest Assured. Proficiency in Java or other object‑oriented programming languages. Experience with automation frameworks (TestNG, JUnit, Cucumber, etc). Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps). Familiarity with tools like Postman, Swagger, JMeter for API validation and performance testing. Strong knowledge of SDLC, STLC, Agile methodologies. Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and leadership skills. Preferred Qualifications Exposure to cloud‑based environments (AWS, Azure, GCP). Experience with microservices architecture and containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes). Knowledge of database testing (SQL/NoSQL). ISTQB or equivalent certification is a plus.
