Projects Controls Lead to join our company in our Perth, Western Australia Branch who will be involved in establishing and maintaining project controls and assisting in the management and reporting on project activities in a consistently accurate manner. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this role will ensure that project objectives are met by providing accurate and timely project data, analytics, and insights to support decision‑making and effective delivery. The Project Controls Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within scope, and on budget. Responsibilities Create, implement and maintain project control procedures and processes, in particular cost control, forecasting and scheduling. Recruit, onboard and ensure clear lines of accountability for project controls teams. Conversion of project estimate to project control budget. Establish a planning interface for progress measurement and progress claims management. Responsible for the production of project baseline, as constructed and look‑ahead schedules including the integration of sub‑contractor schedules and those for off‑site activities. Ensure the applicable contractual requirements for project reporting are met. Identify any trends and analyse their impact on the project milestone dates and forecast final cost. Advise on actions to be taken to prevent or improve undesirable trends in progress and cost. Delivery of weekly and monthly reports ensuring productivity analysis, cost analysis, cost forecasting and cash flow projection. Liaises with the managers and superintendents regarding scheduling and the status of the project. Ensure accurate change management procedures and processes are implemented and tracked against project control budget. Assist with delay, extension of time and variation claims in conjunction with commercial team. Skills & Experience Experience in the construction industry operating at a project controls lead level. Commercial understanding of contractual rights and obligations as it relates to project controls. Operational and strategic financial management skills – forecasting, analysis and reporting. Understanding and knowledge of the engineering construction industry and markets. Business planning, risk analysis, developing KPIs and targets, performance review and statistical analysis. Advanced Excel skills, in addition to intermediate skills in Word and PowerPoint and general understanding in other corporate Microsoft Suite programs. Position Requirements Relevant Tertiary Education Qualification or Degree or Diploma in Finance, Construction Management, Engineering or Quantity Surveying or equivalent industry experience. 5 - 7 years' experience in a project controls role managing major contracts circa $250 million in an EPC / EPCM environment. Proven track record building and developing successful teams. Strong problem‑solving and analysis capability. Strong presentation and report writing skills. Experience with Pronto or similar ERP.
