Opportunity To further mature our data governance and management practices, we are seeking an Associate Director, Data Governance & Quality to join our team. This newly created role will be pivotal in shaping EFA’s data management maturity as we scale to unlock more business value from enterprise data and safeguard data quality. Reporting to: Head of Enterprise Reporting & Analytics Key Responsibilities Lead strategic improvement initiatives to enhance EFA’s data governance, risk management, and data quality frameworks. Evolve data governance and risk management practices, focusing on operationalising critical data elements (CDEs), strengthening data lineage, and driving data quality accountability. Foster a culture of data ownership across teams and departments with varying levels of data literacy. Proactively identify opportunities to improve data governance processes and manage senior stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for key data initiatives. Implement a data governance framework, embed data ownership in business processes, and achieve measurable improvements in data quality. Key Deliverables in the First 12 Months Implementation of a robust data governance framework. Embedding data ownership and accountability across the business. Delivering measurable improvements in data quality and risk management. Documenting end‑to‑end data lineage for critical data elements. About You Significant experience (typically 6+ years) in data governance, data risk management, or enterprise data management roles, ideally within financial services or a highly regulated environment. Proven experience developing and implementing data governance frameworks, preferably within banking or financial services. Track record of delivering complex, cross‑functional improvement programmes in data management, governance, or risk. Ability to lead data governance forums, working groups, or communities of practice. Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder relationships at all levels, including Heads of Department and cross‑functional teams. Strong background in data quality management, data lineage, and metadata management. Experience with dashboarding and reporting tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, Alteryx). Experience working in project environments with defined deliverables, timelines, and accountability for outcomes. Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant professional certifications (e.g., DAMA Certified Data Management Professional). Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., APRA, ASIC, DAMA‑DMBOK).
