Senior Grid Engineer

Key Responsibilities Lead GPS studies & grid integration for 100MW+ utility-scale projects Manage AEMO negotiations, R1 / R2 testing & NSP stakeholder engagement Use PSS / E, PSCAD & DIgSILENT for power systems analysis & modelling Grid Connection Planning and Analysis Assess grid connection feasibility for renewable energy projects, considering technical, regulatory, and commercial factors Conduct technical studies and analysis to evaluate grid integration options, identify potential issues, and propose solutions to optimise grid connection performance Perform steady state and dynamic grid connection studies using PSS / E, PSCAD, and DIgSILENT software for current and future projects Develop tools to enhance team's capability to perform in-house GPS studies and execute future projects Provide support to reporting manager in development of scripting Technical Leadership and Project Support Perform Generator Performance Standard reports during pre-contract stages with regards to inverter sizing Review and negotiate EPC and supplier agreements to manage risk with regards to grid performance Studies related to R0 and R1, coordination during hold point and R2 process with internal and external resources Negotiation of GPS and test plan as required with client, AEMO and TNSP / DNSP Review electrical consultants' offers and provide technical due diligence in selection process of consultants for EBOP and electrical design Provide technical support to project development teams during planning and implementation phases, including conducting site visits, reviewing design documents, and participating in meetings with stakeholders Stakeholder Management Collaborate with network service providers (NSPs), government agencies such as AEMO, and other stakeholders to facilitate grid connection processes and resolve any issues that may arise Effective communication and engagement with external stakeholders throughout the grid connection process Regulatory Compliance and Documentation Stay abreast of relevant regulations and standards related to grid connection and ensure compliance throughout the project lifecycle Prepare comprehensive reports, technical documentation, and compliance filings related to grid connection activities, ensuring accuracy and completeness Ensure compliance with AEMO procedures, NSP requirements, and NER rules Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements in grid connection procedures Contribute to the development of best practices within the organisation About You Essential Requirements Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related fields (master's degree preferred) Experience in various large-scale utility grid connected renewable projects in excess of 100MW Strong understanding of electrical power systems, grid infrastructure, and renewable energy technologies Hands‑on experience with power system analysis software such as PSS / E, electromagnetic transient simulation software like PSCAD, and power system simulation tools like DIgSILENT Demonstrated experience in connection agreements, GPS studies, R1 & R2 testing of renewable energy projects, new substations or resources industry projects with power authorities, market regulator and developers Familiarity with relevant regulations, standards, and industry practices governing grid connection in Australia, including knowledge of AEMO procedures, NSP requirements, and NER rules Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to collaborate across teams and engage with external stakeholders Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results within established timelines Desirable CPEng and RPEQ accreditation preferred or ability to gain accreditation Experience with scripting and tool development for power systems analysis Experience reviewing and negotiating EPC and supplier agreements Apply Today Apply today by following the links, or email for a confidential discussion.
