What You’d Be Doing In This Role As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA. This role will give you a feel for the type of things you’ll be working on when you start, which will likely evolve over time. At The Moment This Role Is Focused On Provide hands‑on technical support to researchers, debugging training jobs and optimising inference pipelines, and unblocking critical workflows. Develop tools and patterns that help researchers self‑serve common needs, reducing repetitive support burden. Partner with platform capability teams to identify gaps in current offerings and advocate for researcher needs. Create documentation and examples that accelerate researcher onboarding and reduce time‑to‑productivity. Lead technical deep‑dives on performance optimisation, cost reduction, and workflow efficiency for research teams. You’re Probably a Match If You have strong Python skills and experience with ML frameworks. You’ve worked closely with or supported research/data science teams. You’re a problem solver with strong debugging chops across the ML stack. You can explain complex technical concepts to different audiences with ease. You’re customer‑focused and have the patience to support a variety of users—even when it gets repetitive. You enjoy being a force multiplier—accelerating research by removing friction.
