EEO/Disabled/Vets Job Description Role - Principal Engineer (Cloud) Location - Sydney (2 holt Street) Hybrid - In office 3 days a week We have an exciting role for an (Infrastructure) Principal Engineer in our Platform Engineering team who will be responsible for helping with the design and development of the AWS and GCP architectures and tooling for protecting business critical data and assets. This position will directly contribute to the overall global enterprise cloud architecture. The Principal Platform Engineer will contribute expertise, embrace emerging trends and provide guidance on best practices across all of News Corp business and technology groups. The position will require the ability to multitask and work independently, as well as work collaboratively with peer and customer teams, some of which are geographically distributed. This role reports to the Senior Manager, Cloud Engineering within the Global Infrastructure Engineering team. You will Help design and deliver engineering approaches, standards and tooling for the relevant platforms as required. Govern, design, deliver and support engineering tooling platforms that drive best practice and agile ways of working for Service Management Provide engineering expertise for the appropriate products to contribute to all services, including ownership of backlogs (where appropriate) Act as a resolver group, participating in incident and problem management for in scope services Develop strong relationships with customers and peer teams to drive value Realize opportunities to simplify and consolidate product solutions Drive the optimum level of automation and instrumentation of the development lifecycle for in scope products Adopt continuous DevSecOps improvements Adhere to security and privacy standards, policies and frameworks Design and build infrastructure as code using industry best practice frameworks such as Terraform and related tooling, and languages such as Python Drive adoption about all things Cloud Native and an understanding of the GitOps methodology Be a stickler for efficiency and strive for automation Provide technical guidance to peers and customers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous learning. Required Experience Solid programming experience with a focus on Python. In depth experience with core AWS services including VPC, TGW, A|E|NLB, IAM, KMS, EC2, Config, CloudTrail, CloudFormation, Lambda, and others. In depth experience with core Google Cloud services including Compute, IAM, VPC, Cloud Run, and GKE. In depth experience with Kubernetes, with a focus on Amazon EKS, and associated tooling such as ArgoCD. In depth experience with monitoring, logging and management tools such as Cloudwatch, Google Cloud Monitoring, Splunk, SumoLogic, and New Relic. Experience with administering Linux based systems Experience working with Atlassian products such as Jira and Confluence Experience in managing code within the SDLC methodology using GitHub Experience with Jenkins and GitHub Actions Proven ability to write both customer facing and technical documentation Experience with cloud-based security vulnerabilities identification and remediation.
