THE POSITION The Grounds and Maintenance Team Member reports to the Facilities Manager and has a key role in ensuring the assigned duties are executed to a high standard so as to add value to the academic, pastoral and spiritual life of the College. The Grounds and Maintenance Team Member will be required to participate in the wider life of the College, which may include attending sporting and other events. The Grounds and Maintenance Team undertake the upkeep of College facilities, buildings, grounds, sporting fields and buses. The successful applicant will be passionate about providing promoting and maintaining a positive first impression of the College to the community and public, is able to operate with collaboration, cooperation, teamwork and professionalism, has prior experience in similar roles, strong organisational skills and be used to working to specific deadlines. The Grounds and Maintenance Team Member delivers a broad range of services to support the College. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Open the College each morning, disarm buildings and unlock relevant areas Present the school well, blowing down pathways regularly and cleaning up after any incidents Monitor College facilities, advising the Facilities Manager of any issues Empty external and recycling bins, replacing and cleaning as required Execute preventative maintenance schedules and, where required, liaise with contractors Keep maintenance equipment in good repair Address assigned hazards or other reported maintenance and safety concerns Set up and pack down from events (chairs, tables, relocatable stage, bunting, cones, BBQs...) as required Mark lines on sports ovals Maintenance equipment repair / good order Ensure hazardous substances are stored correctly and usage record kept Maintain accessibility equipment and markings (e.g. tactiles / visual definitions, lifts etc.). Collect mail from the post office and manage deliveries to the College Manage any animals who appear on site Support other members of the Grounds and Maintenance Team with duties as required Undertake any other duties as requested by the Facilities Manager, Business Manager or the Principal FACILITIES/BUILDINGS Keep the school well maintained by undertaking small painting projects, minor fencing and surface repairs Clean cobwebs and replace vermin management (in accordance with WHS requirements) Maintain outdoor seating and bag hooks Sustain external surfaces, including high pressure cleaning, repairs (minor) Make minor building, electrical or plumbing repairs (when a qualified tradesperson is not required) Install items as required (pinboards / whiteboards / dispensers) Relocate furniture for events or to accommodate change (repairing or disposing as required) Oversee annual electrical testing and tagging GROUNDS Maintain lawns and ovals (mowing, whipper snipping, irrigating, fertilizing, weeding) Maintain gardens including trees, shrubs and hedges (trimming, hedging, irrigating, fertilizing, weeding) Maintain the irrigation system (including installation and repairs) Maintain stores (fertilisers, pesticides, herbicides, tools) in accordance with WHS requirements BUSES Manage College mini‑buses (refueling, cleaning, organising repairs and registration inspections) Drive College mini‑buses, as required It should be noted that, while detailed, this role description is not exhaustive and the Facilities Manager may, at their discretion, vary these responsibilities as required by the College. THE CANDIDATE A suitable candidate for this position will have a genuine love of people, warmth and engagement, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents, offering excellent customer service to our community. Inherent in this position is the ability to undertake physical work including lifting heavy goods, handling organic and chemical pesticides and sprays, maintaining machinery and equipment, working at heights and in confined spaces. A reasonable level of fitness is required. The Grounds and Maintenance Team Member will demonstrate an active Christian faith and involvement in their local church, supporting the Christian ethos of the College. The Team Member will report directly to the Facilities Manager and will be responsible for supporting them in their work, as well as providing support for other areas of the College where appropriate. ESSENTIAL: Current Working with Children Check Number for paid work, or willingness to obtain First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain Working at Heights certificate, or willingness to obtain Confined Spaces certificate, or willingness to obtain Chemical Certificate, or willingness to obtain. LR/MR driver’s license with the ability to drive manual and automatic, or willingness to obtain DESIRABLE: Experience in building and ground maintenance, preferably in a school environment Experience working in an education environment or a not-for-profit environment EXPECTATIONS Have a personal Christian faith and commitment to servant‑leadership Support the mission and vision of the Anglican Schools Corporation and Marsden Park Anglican College Be loyal to the Principal and the College, demonstrating professional and personal integrity Be approachable, flexible, good humoured and willing to provide assistance Ability to work independently or in a team, with capacity to problem solve, show initiative and follow direction Be technologically literate, with the ability to adapt to different technologies and seek help where required Be proactive and innovative and open to change, committed to personal and professional development CHILD SAFETY Marsden Park Anglican College is committed to child safety and complies with the requirements of the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.
