Austchrome offers dedicated and specialised services for all aspects of repairs and our facility supports this process with modern equipment and experienced trade qualified operators. We are the experts in hydraulic cylinder manufacture and repair, component reclamation and surface technology solutions. With large inspection bays, painting booths and dozens of overhead and jib cranes, our facility is tailor-made to meet the largest reclamation requirements The Role We’re looking for highly skilled CNC Machinists to join our Afternoon-shift workshop team in Paget. You’ll be programming, setting and operating CNC machines on a wide range of components – often large and complex – with the chance to work across multiple machines in a precision-focused environment. CAD / CAM knowledge is highly desirable, and this role is ideal for someone who thrives on producing accurate, high quality work. What You’ll Be Doing Setting and operating a range of CNC and manual machines, including lathes, milling machines, and borers Programming and running CNC machines using Fanuc and Fagor controllers Machining hydraulic cylinder components, shafts, and other heavy industrial parts to close tolerances Reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings to produce components to exact specifications Conducting in-process quality checks using micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools Performing tool changes, machine adjustments, and basic maintenance to ensure optimal performance Managing workflow and operating multiple machines efficiently to meet production targets Working collaboratively with the workshop team to troubleshoot and meet deadlines Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work environment in line with company safety standards What We’re Looking For Trade-qualified Machinist (Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent) Proven experience in both CNC and manual machining Confident operating a variety of machines (lathes, mills, and borers) Experience working with large or complex components to tight tolerances Strong understanding of G-code and CNC control systems Skilled in precision measurement and quality assurance practices Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently Positive team player with a proactive, problem-solving attitude Current driver’s licence and reliable transport Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening Why You’ll Love Working Here Afternoon shift position : 3 : 00 PM – 11 : 30 PM, with applicable shift allowance Access to a well-equipped workshop with a variety of CNC and manual machines Income protection insurance included in your wages Job security working for a large, established corporation Ability to bank overtime and gain an extra 2 weeks off with flex leave Supportive team environment with a strong focus on safety and quality 38-hour week plus regular overtime available How to Apply This vacancy is being managed by our labour hire partner, Haynes People.
