Exciting Role- Permanent, Full-time, Herston | Provide strategic leadership in the development, implementation and monitoring of statewide and national allied health workforce and education initiatives, policy, and reformThe roleThe Director of Allied Health, Workforce and Education is a key leader of allied health reform within the Office of the Chief Allied Health Officer. Reporting to the Chief Allied Health Officer, this role leads a multidisciplinary team to strengthen allied health and strength healthcare.

The position oversees the development and oversight of major, complex, and high-profile allied health workforce, education, governance, policy, and reform programs at a state-wide level. This includes an ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders which results in high value and sustainable allied health models of care.In addition, the Allied Health Director fosters innovation in allied health education programs through oversight, engagement and setting the strategic priorities of the statewide clinical education program. Furthermore, through collaboration with education providers and universities, this role is pivotal in influencing the future career opportunities for allied health professionals.Building and maintaining strategic partnerships with key Australian and Queensland Government agencies, non-government partners, higher education providers, professional associations, regulatory bodies, and research organisations is essential. The role also involves negotiating and managing strategic, complex, and high-value agreements with multiple stakeholders and handling ministerial and departmental requests for briefings, reports, information, and advice, ensuring alignment with relevant national and state government strategies and compliance with service quality standards and occupational health and safety policies.The successful personTo excel in this role, you will demonstrate highly developed communication, influencing, policy analysis, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to negotiate and assert yourself while building productive and positive partnerships. You will have significant experience in allied health, policy coordination and project delivery within a large, complex environment, including the ability to analyse and integrate information from multiple sources and respond to changing expectations and deliverables.Additionally, you must exhibit strong leadership abilities, including the ability to motivate and inspire a high-performing team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, promoting a positive work environment and the importance of delivering outcomes across the health sector.You will be skilled at navigating change and complexity within a government environment, with demonstrated high-level abilities to problem-solve and provide practical solutions to complex issues and situations. Furthermore, you need to demonstrate the ability to consult and provide authoritative expert advice on complex allied health workforce and education policy and reform issues to both internal and external stakeholders, including government executives and peak organizations.About usThe Department of Health is responsible for the overall management of the public health system in Queensland. The quality improvement agenda is actively supported by a significant research agenda. The Division is also accountable for setting and supporting the direction for mental health, alcohol, and other drug services in Queensland, as well monitoring and reporting on performance.
