The Role
This long standing and highly regarded team are expanding, with this newly created role established to support strong client demand. Best suited to a degree qualified Environmental Scientist with 2+ years practical field experience in contaminated land, water sampling, and mould sampling projects – you will become a specialist through the hands-on mentoring and leadership of our Principal Environmental Scientists.
This is a hands-on role with the successful candidate managing all aspects of their own projects whilst assisting other team members as required to deliver client requirements. Your experience and exposure will be diverse with Octief in which you will enjoy the variety of brown field, commercial, industrial, and residential sites across your workdays with your work hours set within the span of 6am-6pm aligned to your field schedule for the day.
The role can be physically demanding, with extended periods in the field and travel required. Extend your earning potential with weekend work required but compensated by overtime. Travel on occasion will require overnight stays with all travel costs, accommodation, vehicles and overnight allowances provided. We look after our people at Octief, building appropriate allowances into our service agreements with clients to reward your effort.
The successful candidate will be based in our Office at Yatala and work hours set and billable from commenced travel from the office till your return. TOIL is also an option should you choose it.
The day to day
Primary duties include but are not limited to:
Field Works - infield sampling across a brownfield, commercial, industrial, and residential client site mix.
Client liaison – across a client mix of restoration firms, developers, councils, construction firms and insurers.
Quoting – taking briefings from clients on their requirements and setting a service scope and quote.
Project Management of works with subcontractor oversight as required.
Report writing – reflecting findings and recommendations.
The essentials
Degree in Environmental Science.
2+ years field experience in contaminated land, water sampling, and mould sampling projects highly advantageous.
Ability to work autonomously unsupervised – completing field work across contaminated land, mould and water sampling (once trained).
Ability to travel and work on weekends as needed.
Proactive interest in expanding your knowledge through leveraging existing reference material and your direct and broader sampling team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with high level MS O365 skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Experience working with Blue Beam, ESDAT.
The ability to work autonomously in the field and effectively within a team environment.
A valid Open Driver's License and construction industry white card are essential.
The role will complete field services across regional Southeast Queensland with travel further throughout QLD and interstate required as needed. Outside of field schedules, the role will be based at our Yatala Office.
