Position Information

Mannering Park Public School is situated at the northern end of the Central Coast. The school is situated on Darkinjung and Awabakal traditional land, and serves a community located on the shores of Lake Macquarie.

Mannering Park Public School has 215 students enrolled from K-6, including 44 students who identify as Aboriginal. The school currently has 11 mainstream classes and two support classes. The school has strong links with Muru Bulbi, the local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG), the Lakes Community of Schools and a range of external stakeholders. The school has a small, active P&C who operate the uniform shop and canteen and coordinate local fundraising initiatives within the school.

Staff are mix of experienced and early career teachers, and the school currently has four Assistant Principals. Mannering Park Public School has a focus on continuous improvement in teaching and learning through strong data systems and professional learning communities (PLC’s). There is a strong emphasis on supporting individualised student success across academic, cultural, sporting and affective domains. Mannering Park Public School has a whole of school approach to student well-being and growth, including an ongoing commitment with Real Schools and the Resilience Project.

Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria,

  1. Proven capacity to develop and lead targeted, differentiated pedagogical practice with a focus on improved student outcomes, explicit teaching and whole-school data systems.
  2. A highly visible and approachable leader with a demonstrated ability to lead a school with high expectations and authentic community engagement.
  3. Demonstrated capacity to cultivate school culture of inclusion and support that promotes student and staff well-being and caters to the diverse needs of the school community.
General Selection Criteria

1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P2 for 2024.
