Technology Strategy Analyst

Technology Strategy Analyst – Virgin Australia Full‑time, permanent. Based out of Brisbane or Sydney with a hybrid work model. Virgin Australia is on a mission to make flying better than “nice”. What you’ll be doing This newly created role supports the Manager, Technology Strategy in developing, implementing, and monitoring technology and commercial strategies for our Information Technology division. The position requires analytical capability, commercial acumen, and technology understanding to drive value, optimise costs, and support strategic decision‑making across the technology portfolio. Support the development of technology and commercial strategies by conducting market research, competitive analysis, and industry trend assessments. Analyse technology investment opportunities and provide recommendations based on cost‑benefit analysis, risk assessment, and strategic alignment. Assist in the preparation of business cases, investment proposals, and strategic planning documents. Contribute to technology road‑map development by providing commercial and financial insights. Support vendor and contract management activities, including relationship management and performance monitoring. Identify opportunities for cost optimisation and efficiency improvements. Assist in managing procurement strategies and activities (alongside our highly experienced Procurement function). Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to technology investments, vendor performance, and strategic objectives. Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior leadership on commercial and strategic matters. Collaborate with technology teams, finance, procurement, and business units to gather requirements and insights. Participate in cross‑functional project teams to ensure commercial considerations are integrated into technology initiatives. What we’re looking for Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Commerce, Economics, or an IT‑related field. At least 3–5 years of experience in management consulting, technology strategy, or commercial analysis roles. Experience in the technology sector or supporting technology functions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with demonstrated ability to interpret complex data. Understanding of commercial and contract management principles. Experience with strategy creation. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
