Civil Inspectors - Structures - IS02 or IS03 (B08) - BNE Gen Apply for the role at EGroup Protective Services Group Pty Ltd We regularly tender construction projects in the Brisbane & greater QLD region and are seeking expressions of interest from experienced Civil Structures Inspectors (IS02 or IS03, B08) who are available for an initial 12‑month assignment with potential extension and other projects. Purpose of the role The roles involve inspecting the construction of structures such as bridges, retaining walls, concrete barriers, drainage structures, gantries, and performing welding and structural bridge product inspections (fabricated steel and precast concrete). The aim is to review welds in a Quality Assurance environment to reduce the risk of non‑conforming products for Transport and Main Roads (TMR). Responsibilities Undertake inspection functions and technical audits to ensure contractors/suppliers follow their Quality Manual and Quality Plan and construct work in accordance with Principal requirements and standards. Identify and assess the severity and nature of structural and material defects, determine their criticality and recommend appropriate action. Where relevant, monitor suppliers’ Technical and Quality System, report on the suitability of welding procedures and final product for TMR. Prepare written documents including daily diaries, submissions/reports on specifications, welding processes and other related fabrication issues, and advise TMR on fabricated steelwork and repairs. Communicate with the Principal, Contract Administrator, and Senior Engineers to keep them informed of progress, quality of work and problems across projects. Assist in developing steelwork inspection and reporting systems and reviewing departmental standards. Provide effective administration, surveillance and recording of documentation generated during manufacture, supply and delivery of bridge products. Maintain and manage detailed records (Inspector’s Diaries, test results, photos) and prepare reports to a high standard for presentation in a legal environment. Use comprehensive knowledge of TMR policies, standards and specifications to read, understand and interpret technical documents, standards and drawings. Facilitate mutually agreeable outcomes to construction issues through highly developed relationship skills. Mandatory Experience Minimum of 5 years of extensive practical experience in bridge construction, routine maintenance, steel fabrication and precast concrete product manufacture in accordance with TMR policies, standards and specifications. Desirable Experience Technical knowledge and experience with bridge structures, drainage structures, retaining walls, gantries and construction materials. Computer skills in Microsoft Windows OS, MS Word, MS Excel, file management and email. Preferred Qualifications (Not Mandatory) A Certificate IV in Project Management / Certificate IV in Safety / Certificate III in Bridge Construction / Certificate of Safety Management or an equivalent qualification. Other Requirements Must have a driver’s licence and access to a mobile phone. Preference given to those already residing in Queensland or willing to relocate; alternatives will be considered. Nominally 40 hours per week, with variation due to project demands; travel to site on an ad‑hoc basis and occasional weekend work may be required.
